Users may assign up to three tax rates, each with its own corresponding account and cost center. Tax options are helpful in situations where multiple sales taxes occur – for example, in a city where both city and state sales taxes apply.
Taxes are applied based on the tax settings in Customer /Customer Quick Maintenance and the Taxable setting for the item in Item /Item Quick Maintenance.
Sales tax options are used in conjunction with tax types and the Tax Type setting in User Options. Up to three tax options can be specified. Use Change to add or modify Tax Options.
Note: To calculate the sales tax in sales orders, the item must be taxable, and customer taxes that apply must be set to Yes. (These settings do not affect creating the "Tax Options" table--they just calculate sales tax.)
